Location

The nature tourism “SELÃO DA EIRA - Turismo Rural no Alentejo” is located between the Atlantic Ocean and the gentle Monchique mountain range, close to a number of beaches and the small town of S. Teotónio. It combines three beautiful properties, each one with a particular atmosphere. Most parts belong to the National Ecological Reserve. The atmosphere of tranquility and privacy, and the surrounding nature make them fantastic places to relax, and at the same time, a good base for day-excursions and hiking.

The “Historical Route” of the international hiking route “Rota Vicentina” passes in front of SALGADINHO and SÍTIO DAS ROLAS, and right through our Nature Paradise SELÃO DA EIRA VELHA, in the section between S. Teotónio and Odeceixe.

Many of the beautiful and still natural beaches of the Alentejo coast are nearby. In summer time they are excellent for beach life. In springtime and autumn, and even during the winter months, they are prime hiking areas, directly by the sea and on top of the blossoming cliffs. Zambujeira-do-Mar, Alterinhos, Carvalhal, Praia da Amália and Odeceixe are in the immediate vicinity, at some 10-15 minutes driving time by car. But they may also be reached by bicycle. Another 10 beaches are at 20-25 minutes driving distance.

Being open since 10 years now, SELÃO DA EIRA has been "coming of age", receiving more and more direct reservations. Not only through this website, but from guests who return, from others who follow a recommendation, again others who read about our nature tourism, and sometimes spontaneously from passerbies hiking on the Rota Vicentina or exploring the area in search of accommodation.

Those guests, like the outside visitors of the esplanade, have no platform to leave a comment or any kind of message. Even someone who can use a platform, may wish to leave a more personalized message without being obliged to classify by stereotypes.

Therefore, as of May 2022, a space has been created to give the floor to our guests and visitors. Please choose The Guests' Floor to post a comment on your hospitality experience, or to relate impressions on our nature tourism, if desired including a picture. Suggestions or creative ideas on whatever you feel that it might contribute to improve our offer, are appreciated, too.
