The former windmill yard of SALGADINHO nowadays is an exclusive country house complex with three accommodations in a natural setting that reminds of a botanical garden. A modern ecological concept reconciles “nature & comfort”. The visitor is intrigued by the atmosphere of tranquillity and privacy, and by the panorama view over a completely natural landscape with sunrise over the Monchique hills and sunset over the Atlantic Ocean. The star-twinkling night sky is truly magnificent.

The large water surface which integrates the swimming pool is in harmony with the surrounding nature. At times, it rather looks like a lake, especially by rain or when it is windy. The sunrise over the hills, the sunset over the ocean and the moonlight reflect in the water, giving the pool a changing appearance in the course of a day.

The gradual access and non-slippery pavement make the swimming pool easily accessible also for small children and someone with reduced mobility, even on crutches or in wheelchair. On sunny days the water is slightly heated by the overflow from excess solar water heating.

  ACCOMMODATION

CASA PAVÃO and CASA PEIXE have the traditional taipa (clay) walls. The studio MOINHO is inserted in the original stone walls of the former windmill.

All building and decoration reflect the application of ecological principles and standards.

The accommodations meet the demand for modern comfort, including reliable WiFi and TV by satellites. Each one has its individual style and interior decoration that pays attention to detail and makes it unique. And each one has private outdoor space, including a private poolside terrace with sunbeds and table.

  IN  SINTONY  WITH  NATURE

 CASA   PEIXE

The smaller of the two modern clay house has a large sheltered veranda and adjacent sun deck next to the swimming pool with a never boring view over the water to the Monchique hills where the sun rises. CASA PEIXE is comfortable for a couple and families with one child or parent, two singles, or just one who likes to have space.

Wheelchair users find the bathroom and kitchen adapted, flat stilts and barrier-free circulation from a paved parking space to the house and veranda and the swimming pool.

O  MOINHO

The two-level windmill studio is a romantic hideaway for couples and very comfortable for a single traveller. O MOINHO has modern comfort, and the quarter upstairs is very cozy with view of the sunset over the ocean. 

The small conservatory next to the entrance offers an ample sea and mountain view. Except in winter, it is almost like an additional room with dining table and comfortable chairs. The poolside terrace offers a 360° panorama view.

 CASA   PAVÃO

The larger one of the clay houses offers absolute privacy. Even bedroom patio and pool terrace are real hideaways. CASA PAVÃO is comfortable for a couple who likes space and a family of three or four, but also for two couples and friends. The conservatory with adjacent private lawn intrigues with an ample view including sunset panorama over the ocean and the hills.

CASA PAVÃO and CASA PEIXE may be linked together to create a spacious double house for 6 persons.
